Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sample: Fill the ampoule with a small amount of finely ground powder (approximately 20 milligrams). 
  2. Mix the Chemicals: Pour the contents of both tubes provided into the bottle of liquid. Once combined, a greenish upper layer will form in the solution. 
  3. Add the Sample: Place the prepared sample into the bottle, securely close the lid, and shake for two seconds. 
  4. Check for a Color Change: Examine the lower layer of the solution for a color shift. If cocaine is present, the solution will change color. The depth and darkness of the color indicate the purity of the sample. 

Interpreting the results

  • Dark Color: A strong reaction and dark color indicate a high percentage of cocaine in the sample. 
  • Light to Medium Brown Color: A lighter brown color means that the sample contains a significant amount of adulterants, reducing its purity. 
  • No Color Change: If no significant color change occurs, the sample contains a small amount or does not contain cocaine.
